PACKAGE CUSCO - MACHUPICCHU 6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS

Day 01: Arrive to Cusco
Upon your arrival to Cusco you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel where you will receive a short briefing then have the rest of the morning for resting and acclimatizing. The afternoon will be time to explore Cusco, enjoying the sights of the capital of the Incas, the indigenous and colonial heritages at your leisure, and at night exploring Cusco’s nightlife or sampling some of its many typical restaurants.
Recommendations: We highly recommend to walk around the main plaza and visit the San Pedro Market.

Day 02: Full Day Sacred Valley Tour
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00am. This is a full day excursion to the Sacred Valley, visiting the colourful Indian market in Pisac where you will be able to appreciate a mixture of colour and tradition. You will have plenty of opportunities to test your bartering skills, interact with the local craftsmen and purchase their hand-made souvenirs. Pisac is located at the entrance of the Sacred Valley. The Valley is 31 kms or 19 miles from Cusco and at an altitude of 2,970metres or 9,700 ft.

Followed by Pisac is Urubamba where we have a delicious lunch. We continue on to Ollantaytambo, the oldest continuously occupied town on the American continent. The narrow streets of Ollantaytambo along with their canals have not changed much from the time of the Inca Empire. They evoke their ancestral inheritance and give you a feeling of what times would have been like back then. The last visit is to the Chinchero market place. Chinchero is believed to be the mythical birthplace of the rainbow. Its major claim to tourism is its colourful Sunday market, which is much less tourist-orientated than the market at Pisac.

Day 03: Moray & Salt Mines – Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town)
We pick you up in our private van from your hotel in Cusco and drive you to the stunning Inca site of Moray also known as “The Greenhouses of the Incas.” Different levels of terraces are carved into a huge circular bowl, a part of which was further excavated by the Incas. The terraces have varied microclimates depending on how deep the terrace runs into the bowl. They were thought to have been used by the Incas to discover the optimal growing conditions for their crops.
After time to enjoy and explore this beautiful Inca sight, we continue driving towards the colonial town of Maras and to the Pre-Inca Salt Mine (Salineras). Thousands of salt pans have been used for salt extraction since before Inca times. A hot spring at the top of the valley discharges a small stream of heavily salt laden water, which is diverted into salt pans and evaporated to produce a salt that is used now for human and animal consumption.

Then we will take the afternoon Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes from Ollantaytambo, where we spend the night in a hotel. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes a representative of the hotel will meet and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 04: Machu Picchu in all its Glory
You will have breakfast and then your guide will pick you up from your hotel at 5:40am. You will take the bus up to the majestic Machu Picchu to catch the sunrise.  You will have a 2 hour walking tour with your guide exploring all the attractions at Machu Picchu and learning about its history and secrets.  After the tour you will have time to explore the mysterious city by yourself.

You will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes (you can get back by bus or on foot) for lunch and at that time you will receive your train tickets back to Cusco. You’ll take the 4:22pm train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, followed by a private van ride from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.

Note: If you desire to climb up the Waynapicchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain, please request it with your booking in order to avoid any disappointment if you miss out. We usually do this at 10:00am.

Day 05: Leisure Time/ City Tour

We start the tour at the  Convent of Santo Domingo  built over the Koricancha, which was the Ancient Inca Palace and the main worship center of the Sun God. You are given plenty of time to enjoy these beautiful sights. From there we visit the archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman, with its impressive Inca architecture which dominates the city.
